Oh, darling little Alice. Yes, I remember her well. She was Augustus Stinch's last maid - before Violet came along.

Actually, the two were the very best of friends. Violet took up the job after Alice passed away last Christmas.

Alice was a very sickly girl, and Augustus was a man of little sympathy. When illness prevented her from working he would dock her pay - the little he gave her. Eventually her illness overcame her.
